A contract to study wave energy device anchoring and mooring techniques applicable to the full range of wave energy devices that might be installed in Oregon waters in the future was yesterday (27th August) awarded to Sound & Sea Technology. The contract, awarded by the Oregon Wave Energy Trust, focuses on sites already identified as having significant wave energy potential along the Oregon coast and may also include Washington and British Columbia sites.

For the OWET contract, SST teamed with National Renewable Energy Centre (NaREC) of Northumberland, UK to gain the experiences of the European ocean energy industry and with Fugro West for their vast information on geophysical site conditions and survey capability.

The anchoring and mooring study is to be completed by November 30, 2009.  OWET plans to make the study available publicly.
