A call for papers has been issued by the EnergyOcean 2009 Conference which will take place in Rockport, Maine this June. The first day of the three day event (16th-18th June) will, says the organiser, feature a US focus session followed by two days of US and International technical presentations. Outlining the sessions, the organiser explained that on the first day it seeking papers from U.S. Agencies (FERC, DOE, MMS, NOAA, USACE, etc.) which have responsibilities in the approvals of ocean energy projects offshore. Of special interest would be presentations by coastal state agencies (CA, FL, HI, MA, MN, NJ, NY, OR, WA, etc.) or groups who are planning projects off their coastlines and from EPRI on their progress in ocean energy research. And finally, we would like to hear from utilities who are planning to purchase energy generated from ocean energy projects or who plan on funding studies or projects. For the remaing two days the focus shifts and papers are sought on in-progress or completed pilot projects in all areas of ocean energy, as well as projects that are planned for installation in the near future. We would also like to hear from commercial developers and universities who have mature technology and firm plans to implement these technologies in the near future. In addition, we would like to hear presentations from engineering, construction, environmental, legal and financial firms involved in helping implement ocean energy projects.
