The title of ‘Emerging Technology Promoter of the Year’ was awarded to Aquamarine Power at the Global Renewable Energy Awards 2008 in London this week (15th September). The award is given to the most exciting emerging technology provider in renewable energy. Past winners have included Shell/Choren and Grupo Ibereolica. “We are thrilled to have been awarded this highest of accolades”, said Martin McAdam, Chief Executive Officer at Aquamarine. “At Aquamarine Power, we are rapidly developing both our team and our technology and we aim to be the first to deploy both wave and tidal power devices. “This is a very exciting and important time for the marine energy industry, which is going from strength to strength. There is a real opportunity for Scotland to lead a worldwide industry. Thank you to our team and our shareholders.” The awards, dubbed the ‘Green Oscars’, take place every year alongside the Renewable Energy Finance Forum (REFF) London. Established in 2003 by Euromoney and Ernst & Young, the Awards recognise the projects, companies and individuals who have made a significant contribution to the continued growth of the global renewable energy sector.
