TAG and Langlee sign co-operation agreement

A co-operation agreement to cover the devlopment and construction of the LANGLEE E2 wave power system has been signed this week by Langlee Wave Power and TAG, the Project Management, engineering and construction company.

Carnegie set to snap up CETO rights

Shareholders at a meeting today (4th September) gave the go ahead for the Carnegie Corporation to acquire the intellectual property and Northern Hemisphere development rights for the CETO Wave Energy Technology. In  brief statement issued following the meeting, the company said it will now work towards finalizing the remaining outstanding conditions to the transaction, and it is scheduled to complete in the coming weeks.

The shareholders also gave the nod to a name change for the company which will become Carnegie Wave Energy Limited.

 
Oregon research contract goes to Sound & Sea

A contract to study wave energy device anchoring and mooring techniques applicable to the full range of wave energy devices that might be installed in Oregon waters in the future was yesterday (27th August) awarded to Sound & Sea Technology. The contract, awarded by the Oregon Wave Energy Trust, focuses on sites already identified as having significant wave energy potential along the Oregon coast and may also include Washington and British Columbia sites.

Scotland urged to push forward on marine energy

Calls for more government support for the marine renewable sector in Scotland came in a report published today (26th August) by the industry-led Scottish Marine Energy Group. In the report the Group puts forward a selection of recommendations to assist the industry in Scotland including:

* A call for the Scottish Government to repeat its Wave and Tidal Energy Support scheme
* A review of grid infrastructure required to support growth
* A fresh look at the levels of support available under the renewables obligation
* Calls for the Treasury to do more to help the sector, including the release of the Fossil Fuel Levy surplus funds to help promote renewables in Scotland.
